CIS CLASSES - IN PERSON OR ONLINE

Please be aware that all the online classes follow the Melbourne Time (AEDT).

Respect our team: CIS team works to make your learning experience in our school a pleasant one. We will not tolerate any verbal or written abuse or threats, or aggressive behaviour towards our teachers, employees and students. Students who abuse the CIS team will be asked to withdraw from classes with no refund or credit issued.

Refund Policy: Refunds are possible up to two weeks before the first day of the term or up to two weeks before the start of the Intensive course. No refunds will be issued after the term or the intensive course has started.
Students who withdraw two weeks prior to the commencement of the term or two weeks before the commencement of the intensive course are entitled to either:

  • A refund minus a 15% administration fee; or

  • A Credit Note for the full amount.

The Credit Note must be used in the next term or intensive course.
Once a Credit Note is issued, it cannot be exchanged for a refund.
No refunds will be issued for missed classes or on public holidays.

Under no circumstances will refunds or Credit Notes be issued outside of the conditions stated above. This includes, but is not limited to, changes in employment status, work commitments, personal circumstances (including health conditions), relocation, financial hardship, or any other personal reasons.

Deferment of a course: A course may be deferred only during the first week of the term, calculated strictly from the official commencement date of the term, or one week prior to the commencement of intensive courses. For the avoidance of doubt, the first week of the term commences on the Monday of Week 1 and concludes on the Saturday of Week 1, regardless of the scheduled start date of any individual class.
Students who wish to defer a course must submit their request in writing via email to the office no later than the end of the first week of the term, or one week prior to the commencement of intensive courses. Students who defer a course are not entitled to a refund. Students who successfully defer a course will be issued a credit note, which must be used in the immediately following term or in an intensive course. Credit notes are non-refundable and non-transferable. Please note that any courses commencing mid-term are not eligible for deferment or refund under any circumstances.

Credit Notes may be issued only in cases of extreme circumstances where a student withdraws during the first week of the term, as calculated from the official commencement date of the term. For the avoidance of doubt, the first week runs from Monday to Saturday of Week 1, regardless of the scheduled start date of any individual class, or one week prior to the commencement of an intensive course. No Credit Notes will be issued after this period. No credits are issued for missed classes. Credit Notes are non-refundable, non-redeemable for cash, and must be used in the immediately following term or intensive course, after which they expire.

Credit notes are not valid for bookshop merchandise.

Change of Class: We will try our best to accommodate a change in class (day, time, level) based on class availability. No more than one change will be given per term. We highly recommend students stay in the class they enrol in as not to create disruption to the other classmates and teachers.

Missed Class: We do not offer make-up classes and no refunds are provided for missed classes. We will try to arrange a class for you to attend during the week of the missed class based on class size availability. When the school is unable to offer a make-up class, no refunds will be issued. Make up classes are not offered in the first three weeks of the term.

Free extra classes: From the fourth (4th) week of each term, students are most welcome to attend as many extra standard online and face-to-face classes as they wish, at any level at no extra cost, depending on availability. Students are required to write an email to the office to book extra classes week by week and wait for a confirmation.

Transferring from face-to-face to online classes: Transferring from face-to-face classes in Carlton to online classes after the commencement of the term will not entitle students to a refund. Transferring from face-to-face classes to online classes will be possible only if the online classes are not full.

Transferring from online to face-to-face classes: Transferring from online courses to face-to-face classes requires the payment of an extra $30 or $60.
Transferring from online to face-to-face classes will be possible only if the face-to-face classes are not full.

Cancelled Classes: Before the new term starts, CIS reserves the right to cancel any class that does not reach the minimum number of enrolments. In the event of a class being cancelled before the term starts, students can transfer to another class. Alternatively, a refund or credit note will be issued.

Cancelled Classes during the Term: CIS reserves the right to cancel a class due to emergency or unexpected events. In these circumstances, CIS will reschedule the classes based on the teacher's availability. No refunds will be issued.

Public Holidays: Classes will not be held on Victorian public holidays as the school will be closed. Students are welcome to attend any other adult standard classes during that week. No refunds or Credit Notes are issued for missed classes during Public Holidays. CIS won't offer a make-up class for missed classes on public holidays.

Class Schedule Changes
: CIS reserves the right to modify, reschedule, or change the day, or time of classes when necessary. CIS will communicate any such changes to students and/or parents as early as possible and will make reasonable efforts to minimize any disruption.

COVID-19 restrictions: In case of COVIDSafe measures, lockdowns put in place across Metropolitan Melbourne by the Victorian Government, or unexpected events such as a teacher calling sick the same day of the class, all the face-to-face classes will be moved online until the restrictions will be lifted or the teacher is able to return to the classroom. No credit notes or refund will be given unless the school is unable to offer an alternative class online.
